As the cost of living crisis rolls over into 2023, many households are finding it increasingly difficult to make ends meet.

The experts at My Community Finance have put together a list of the top 8 financial apps to help you save money, from rounding up purchases and earning cashback to finding the best prices on shopping.

  • Plum: Cost; Free - £9.99 per month depending on plan
Plum is a savings app that connects to your current account. It looks at your income and spending habits, calculates how much you can realistically save and adds funds to your savings automatically.
  • Emma: Cost; Free - £14.99 per month depending on plan
Emma helps you to set financial goals, categorise your spending and tells you where you can save money. You can separate your money into savings pots, invest in stocks and shares or find cashback deals.
  • Money Dashboard: Free
Money Dashboard is a budgeting app. It allows you to view all your current, credit and savings accounts in one place. The app lets you track and categorise your spending and create budgets.
  • Snoop: Cost; Free - £3.99 per month depending on plan
Snoop is a money management and budgeting app that lets you track spending across all of your accounts. The app can help you save on bills, suggest ways to reduce spending, and shows you relevant deals.
  • TopCashback: Cost; £0 - £5 per annum depending on plan
TopCashback works with hundreds of retailers in the UK, offering cashback deals at many of your favourite retailers. Use the app when you spend online to earn cashback. The app also offers in-store deals.
  • Vouchercloud: Cost; Free
The Vouchercloud app offers vouchers and discounts for thousands of brands across the UK, both in-store and online. You can save money when eating out, getting a takeaway or when you’re out and about shopping.
  • Too Good To Go: Cost; Free
The Too Good To Go app not only helps you save money on food but also helps to reduce food waste. When businesses have surplus food, they list it on the app for users to buy at discounted rates.
  • Idealo: Cost; Free
The idealo app can help you get the best deal on your purchases. You can view the price of a product at different retailers and set price alerts for any products you’ve got your eye on in case they drop in price.

Personal finance expert, Tobias Gruber of My Community Finance, said:

"Using money saving apps can really help your finances, whether you’re saving for a rainy day, paying off debts or needing help to set a budget. Some of these apps are free to use, so it’s worth downloading one or two and experimenting with what works for you.

“By incorporating the use of money saving apps into your daily routine, you can  find the best deals on your shopping, automate savings and track your spending, making the most of your income and helping you to manage your money in clever ways”.
