Why do I need to become a member of the credit union?

The way credit unions are set up, everyone who wants to open an account with them needs to become a member. Becoming a member is quick and easy and you will not be charged for this. You just need to meet one of the following criteria: 

  •  Have a job that matches the membership requirements 
  • Be a member of an applicable trade union or association (e.g. Coop, National Trust, UNISON)
  • Share a household with an existing member of My Community Bank or Castle Community Bank
